snagged from [livejournal.com profile] jakia and [livejournal.com profile] redbrunja:

List the first lines of your last twenty stories. See if you find any patterns. (And flist, I'd love your opinions on patterns you notice.)

1. High in the air upon Appa’s back, the war-weary group made their journey through the sky.

2. The world went up in flames around him.

3. Katara is twenty years old.

4. He was her only visitor, this sad-eyed, white-robed warden; yet he came to watch her several times each day.

5. Would you like me to refill your coffee for you? she asks softly, and Michael Lee looks up from his desk of chaos to see Robin hovering over him, a gentle smile on her face as she brandishes his cup.

6. Let them come to me.

7. Robin was on the crowded subway train, her delicate hand clinging to the rail above her.

8. Holed up in yet another snow-laden village in Mercia, the weary battle-torn group rests.

9. He thought he’d been asleep maybe an hour, maybe two; but Zuko woke up quickly when he felt the presence of someone in his bedroom.

10. The next morning, Katara was aware of the worst feeling of aching soreness she’d ever experienced in her entire life, as she awoke in her own bed after dreaming she’d spent the night in another.

11. "Do you guys want to hear Uncle’s favorite tea joke?"

12. Zuko sat—head bowed, dark hair hanging over his eyes—on a large flat rock outside the cave, where Katara had left him to rest after she'd finished healing him.

13. By the end of the second intermission and the beginning of the last act of the play, Sokka had somehow procured a couple of bottles of rice wine.

14. Robin wasn’t surprised, and didn’t question it, when he pulled his sleek black Audi up to a modest-looking apartment building on the opposite side of town.

15. "Open, please," the head nurse said sternly, eyes hard and middle-aged jowls set.

16. "Scusi. Flight 242, from Florence to Marseille, France, is now boarding its first-class passengers at gate 7B."

17. It was, when Katara reflected on it at length much later on, probably some strange form of karmic retribution for all the times she'd screamed at her brother too often at the South Pole.

18. "Yuck."

19. He was pressed up tightly against her, limb for limb, with no room for escape.

20. There...there it was, again…the pulse of reiatsu from several moments ago.

hahaha...want to know what's sad? About HALF of these entries are from fics that haven't been published; some in the process of being written, and some abandoned.

*looks shifty-eyed*

...I should really finish those abandoned ones.

You have a very descriptive style. Visual. IT MAKES ME ENVIOUS.

Speaking of some being written.

I hesitate to tempt you away from writing more Zutara fic but I also keep thinking of poor Ulquiorra and all that pent up sexual frustration he must have after your last lemony Bleach fic...

Hahah can i just say; speaking of sexual frustration, I think the crown goes to our poor Amon. Poor boy must have the worst case of blue balls ever! :P

The thing I find intereting about your writing is that you have a good way of hooking the audience in with just the first sentence. It's very engaging from word go.

I always think of Amon as having the best control over his physical needs and desires out of all the male characters I know...but yes, I agree, he's had it tough, too!

Thanks for your comment! I'll continue to try to keep the first line entertaining enough to draw people in. ^^

Thank you! I try to be descriptive enough to make the reader see what I see in my head when I'm writing...sometimes if I'm rushing it doesn't come out right, but that's part of why I take so long to update, I think. ^^

LOL@ Ulquiorra's pent-up frustration! Oh yeah...he still hasn't gotten his, yet. I have so many other things on my plate that Number4-sama might have to wait just a bit longer... D:

I had to add stuff that I'm currently working on, because although I've written a lot, I have very few (long) stories. ^^;;;

Hahahaha....the funny thing about #s 2 and 19, is that they're *not* Zutara fics, although they might sound like it by the first lines! XD

#2 is the opening line to my Death Note B/Naomi fic, "Better Off Dead", and #19 is a long-abandoned Red Eye fic, "Umbrae Canarum" (Shades of Gray). Did you ever see the movie Red Eye? Fabulously sexy movie with Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams, where he portrays a stalkerish hitman who chokes her a bit in an airplane lavatory. mmmmm. :D

Cillian Murphy is sex in a suit in that movie.

He is; good god, it's criminal how hot he is there. :D

i c wat u did thar

Cillian Murphy is criminally attractive in basically every movie I've ever seen him in.

28 Days Later - hot survivor man
That movie about the sun burning out - sexy astronaut
Batman Begins - why do I have a crush on a terrifying Batman character D:

...I don't think I've seen any other movies with him. I should fix that.

movie about the sun burning out = Sunshine.

That was a really well-done movie, too. The special effects were fantastic, and the entire thing was just...eerily beautiful. And of course, Cillian.

The only other stuff I know he's in are The Wind that Shakes the Barley (Irish film) and Breakfast On Pluto, where he plays a transvestite. But I think he has some more movies coming up. :D

Sunshine! Yes, thank you!

That movie was really incredible. We rented it on a whim, and it was so worth it. I loves me some good sci-fi with a hot dude in it.

I'll have to look into those. I don't know anything about the first one, but considering his acting abilities, I bet he's great in Breakfast On Pluto.

he was in Girl with the Pearl Earring with Scarlett Johansson. He was the butcher's son.

I also suggest "Watching the Detectives" it has Lucy Lui in it and was filmed around my neighborhood. It's a cute indy film--mostly about a dorky guy hooking up with a girl filled with joie de vivre.

Om nom nom.

I've done this meme and it surprised me by showing the diversity of not just my stories, per se, but the way I caught my readers with that first sentence.

I adore yours, bby. ♥

Patterns, patterns, patterns.. Well, they're all listed in numbers.

1) Good material that I can drink good coffee to. Except maybe #19. Or not.
2) Better than anything I've read from Twilight. I did read a page of it out of curiosity one day, and.. the cat died in a fire.
3) "War-wary group," and, "weary battle-torn group," sound like close relatives. Do they have fudgesicles together every Sunday afternoon, or is it me?

From: [identity profile] misora.livejournal.com
1. You might like reading #19, but it might pay to watch the movie first, so you have a visual reference. ^.~

2. I've never read Twilight and don't plan to. Vampires, while mildly interesting, are just not my thing. And sparkly vampires with a high school bent is definitely not my thing. ^^; But I'm glad you think it's better than Stephenie Meyer's material!

3. Haha, I notice I use the terms "weary" a lot in reference to fighting peeps. :D Actually those two fics are not at all related; the first one is an Avatar fic, and the second one is a Vinland Saga fic.

2. Supports my point, right there.
3. That's.. not really what I meant. It was an attempt at an excuse, at least, to use "fudgesicles" again. Have this instead.
