Man! What a couple of weeks.

Christmas was good. The family all came together, and while I bought a lot of very expensive items this year (mostly for mom and dad, which is okay, because in all likelihood I owe them some $$ anyway), I came away with a good chunk of stuff, too.

$300 cash
$25 certificate to Target
$25 certificate to Starbuck's
$50 certificate to Michael’s (for jewelry supplies! <3 I've already spent half on chain, spacers, pliers, and such)
Roomba floor-cleaning iRobot (the cats absolutely detest it, I adore it)
Nike athletic gear
Pink iPod 4gb nano (from John)
Spode Xmas decoration
Candy/trinkets/ornaments from coworkers/friends
silver necklace
large vanilla/brown sugar scented candle (this thing is as big as my head, I swear.)

John and I exchanged our presents early. He'd bought me a new iPod nano (which I now desperately needed, since my stupid mini up and died), and I gave him money - only half - towards an Xbox360 and Gears of War. We've never spent this amount of money on each other during holidays or birthdays before; so we didn't feel too badly about doing it this one time. So then we picked both items up, and then went back to my place...and we played Gears of War for like, 6 hours straight. No joke. I know some people have game orgies longer than that, but man, by 6 hours later I was hurtin'. That's rough. Plus it's a scary game, so we had to turn it off after a while. ^^;;;

The week afterward was good. Spent a lot of time with friends, lots of good wine and comfort food, but very little gym time. Feeling guilty. There was ice-skating and in January there will be snowboarding! OH YES.

John got sick after Christmas, so I knew we weren't doing anything special for New Year's. In the couple of days before, I managed to finally crank out chapter 19 of TBT, and the epilogue! The fic is finally complete! http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1695122/20/ I'm already working on the first chapter of the sequel - I know, obsessive; but when my momentum strikes, I have to do it, 'cause I never know when it's going to quit on me.

So what did everyone else do?? I feel as though I've been MIA, I've been so fic-obsessed lately. ^^;;; Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!

For Christmas we took our cat to the emergency vet. No joke. And then the day after we brought her home, we had to leave on a four-day trip. *facepalm* Now we're finally back and playing FFXII and relaxing. It's so good to be home...

Oh no! :( It sounded as though something had happened to her -- what was it? Did they know? It's so awful when a pet gets sick. I'm getting pet insurance for my 12-y-old kitty, since she's at the age now where things start going wrong. At least you had a nice trip?

She had a fever of unknown origin. After taking a few doses of anti-biotic, she coughed up the hairball to end all hairballs, which leads me to believe that it was causing inflammation and infection. We recently switched her from a wet-and-dry combination to strictly dry food to help her teeth, and I think that may have had something to do with it as well. Plus, her old food was organic, and the new stuff wasn't. Who knows--maybe she's smart enough to turn up her nose at "chicken byproducts."

I pretty much spent time with my family. I picked up a few things for my XBox 360...Gears of War being one thing, Oblivion was another and a 12-month subscription and a 1600-point card (used mainly on Oblivion, heh heh).

That's pretty much the jist of what I picked up.

It was a good holiday.

And argh! for the Starbucks stuff...it follows me around wherever I go now! XD And I don't say that because I work there...ok, maybe that is the reason, lol.

Gears of War is a great game. John and I actually managed to beat the game last night. It's tough, though! He gets mad at me because I have an annoying habit of getting lost in all of those broke-down, decrepit buildings that you have to wander through. :p

Good to hear you had a good holiday!

So far, I've done co-op and have it beaten on Casual and Hardcore. I dare not try Insane as it would truly piss me off to no end.

In the meantime, I've just been getting my ass handed to me on Veteran Mode in Call of Duty 2.

Thinking of any other games you might pick up?

Oh yeah---we're definitely getting Halo3 and Halo Wars when they come out this year. ^_________^ I am SO pumped for those games. Halo was really what taught me to excel (read: play as well as a guy) at first-person shooter games. ^^

That's cool. I'm going to fork over the $100+ for the Legendary version of Halo 3 for when it comes out. I really should put some money down for that on Friday when I get paid.

In the meantime, I've got a few games to keep me busy. Call of Duty 2, Condemned: Criminal Origins (which rocks, by the way), Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo, Gears of War, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (which also rocks...yeah, I'm a nerd like that XD), Burnout Revenge, N3: Ninety-Nine Nights, Rumble Roses XX (for eye candy purposes XD), and Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 (for eye candy purposes XD). Oh, can't forget about Halo 2...I can play that one online as well.

If you ever feel like playing a round (and kicking my ass, which I'm sure will happen, heh) for the hell of it, go ahead and add me to your friend's list on XBox Live. My gamertag is Gaijus (the name has a quasi-long story).

Enough parenthesis? I think so. XD

Is it wrong that I actually shed a few tears at the last chapter? I don't know why I did, really, as it wasn't...well, I dunno. It struck me as something that was supposed to be kind of uplifting, like, HEY, CHECK ME OUUUUUUUT, but I still cried.

Just a little. I didn't, like, bawl like a bitch or anything.

._.;;;;;;;;;;;;

ZOMGZOMGZOMG U FINEISHED UR FIC WTF LOLZ

I am now officially the SLACKER ASS of the 3 M's. Ah. Well. Amon will kill me in my sleep one of these nights, I know it (if Nagira and I don't kill each other first by drinking ourselves to death).

And am I completely psychotic to only be able to think of Woomba, the SNL skit, every time I see/hear Roomba? XDDDDDD

From: [identity profile] misora.livejournal.com
:o Ohnoes! I made Meris cry! ;___;

I know, that last part with Juliano's letter was rough. I actually cried a couple of times while writing chapter 19; if you asked me why I wouldn't even really be able to tell you. o_O I think it was "end-of-fic" angst?

And you're not a slacker! That just means that the end of your fic will be all the more powerful, because you're the last to finish! ^.~

I haven't seen the Woomba SNL skit! o_O What's it of? I love my Roomba, honestly; but the cats hate it. They take a while to get used to other people; imagine their reactions to a small, flattened oval-shaped robot vaccuum--it moves around by itself AND it makes noise! I'm just surprised Samantha hasn't tried to jump on it, because she's such a tub right now that if she did, I'm sure she'd break the damn thing. ^^

OMG you have to see the Woomba skit. It's hilarious. It's about one of those little self-propelled vaccuum units, except it randomly darts around the house and then INTO YOUR VAGINA, TO CLEAN THINGS OUT.

O_O

It's awesome. During the making of the Woomba "commercial", the women are all talking about it and then all of a sudden they're like O_O! .. . .. ^______^;;;;

Don't even talk to me about fat pets. Iggy is getting retardedly fat and I don't know what to do about it. I've tried to regulate his diet, but he becomes angry if he doesn't have enough food (or what he deems enough food).

Yes. The ferret becomes angry.

Then he throws himself around his cage and attempts to eat everything in it, like his hammock, his blanket, etc. AND HE WILL, IF YOU LET HIM. While I was out of town, I swear he gained two pound while my friend Colleen was taking care of him. I'd guess his weight at about five pounds now. That is a giant ferret.

I don't know what to do. I think I need Ferret Fat Camp. o_O;;

I say we have a Fat Pet Duel -- my 13-pound cat against your 5-pound ferret. Of course that doesn't sound very fair, weight-wise; but man I'm sure Iggy will be running circles around Sam. Although Sam can still run; it's hilarious to watch her do so.

Great haul and gears of war only makes me think of Gary Jules cover of "Mad World," mostly how sad it is. You know it brings you down when old sigur ros can be thought of as uplifting in comparison.

My clients gave me lots of whiskey, chocolate and cash, which of course means that I can't enjoy the first two until february.

Bummer that you can't enjoy some of your presents! ;__;

And yes, the Jules cover is sad. John made me download it, and now we can't stop singing it to ourselves. Curses!

Duuude, Lacuna Coil's "Heaven's A lie" and "Fallen Again" were playing twice, back to back on my player while I read the last half of the Advent chapter. OMIGOD, it was euphoric. SO friggin awesome! I am itching to draw a few of your scenes there. XD

I <3 Lacuna Coil! ^_____^ They do an awesome cover of Depeche's "Enjoy the Silence" on their new album that came out in '06 (Karmacode). I put EtS on the Avent soundtrack because I liked it so much. ^.~ Let me know if you ever want their new album, and I can post a download link... ^^

I'm so glad you liked the end! And yay, drawing! <3

Only a few days late :P.

Chapter 19 was worth the wait, I must say! It was breathtaking and a gratifying way to clean things up.

In most stories, you go in knowing that the main characters will survive at the end. I clung to that hope like a liferaft during this chapter, because I just knew Robin wasn't going to make it out of there alive. And that's exactly what a good story is supposed to do: challenge your preconceptions.

The pacing and suspense were absolutely gorgeous. Flipping between points of view like you did made each section that more compelling, because it could end in cliffhanger at any point and you don't know when it's going to be resolved. But it didn't feel choppy. It was expertly done, that was truly marvelous.

The blending of Biblical and pagan imagery was, as always, just outstanding. I love how neatly it all meshes together, well of course it's like that, haven't you seen it all along? I understand that the source material plays at least some part in the symmetry (^__~), but you weave it together so very well. I am impressed.

Believe me, that review is very much worth waiting a couple of days for. ^.~

Thank you, so much! I'm really glad it resonated with you. I was indeed worried about the POV changes a bit, especially at such a climactic point in the story. I'm glad it didn't feel choppy to you. It was very difficult to pull off. I'm glad the suspense held you, and that the pacing was appropriate...those were all things that concerned me about the story, and I'm relieved that they were received well.

So again, thank you! <3 Yay! On to the sequel! ^____^

Is it bad that when I first saw "updated fic" I ran straight to ff.net and didn't read any of your post? Don't answer, I know that's bad. But Happy Belated Holidays! I'm glad you had a great Christmas. All I can say is that I wish my New Year's had been more mellow. Starting the year out with a massive hangover while having to work at 7 am for a twelve hour shift is just not cool. Great ending to the fic, by the way. I was squeeing in excitement the whole time, especially with the mythological/philosophical conclusion (the duality of god thing). Love to talk to you about that. Later.

Happy Belated Holidays to you too! 7am for a 12-hour shift? *winces* That can't have been good. I'm glad you liked the end, and the myth and philosophy tying it all together (I was concerned that the philosophical aspect was a bit too heavy-handed at the end...did you think so?). I would definitely be happy to talk to you about it!

Thanks again for your review! ^___^

*bounces* It was epic! And, and, other amazing stuffs of awesomeness! I remember when I first started reading I didn't like it because I noticed a lot of fanfics that tried to add characters to Robin's family really DIDN'T work. But Janus really did make sense and was a great character. Happily, I came back to it, really read it, and fell for your writing. Amazing job, congratulations!

Ha! You're the first of three M's to finish. I wonder how the other two are doing. I don't talk to them or really go to Harry's anymore. I should probably go visit. I know the other two have ljs, but i'd feel like a stalker since they don't know me^^'

Aw, your holiday sounds really nice, glad you enjoyed it!
