Oh, that's wibble-worthy.

Also, did Orihime just use her powers AGAINST guy with the teardrops on his face?

She did: http://www.onemanga.com/Bleach/341/18/

It's not that it comes as a surprise, either, given her manic obsession with Ichigo and thinking that she loves him (when they don't really know one another deep down at all, not like Ichigo/Rukia). I'm hoping though that if it comes down to a choice, she doesn't choose to save Ichigo over Ulquiorra. She's been given so much chemistry with Ulqui in the Arrancar arc of the manga that I have a really really hard time believing Kubo is just yanking our chains around with this one.

I was thinking that if Ichigo bested Ulquiorra in this fight, that she might rush to Ulqui's aid...but surprisingly Ichigo hasn't had any of his traditional (annoying) "power-ups" lately, so I'm thinking maybe he's still not a match for Ulquiorra after all. Plus I'm convinced Ulqui is a Vasto Lorde, but we haven't seen evidence of his release yet, so...yeah. Not sure what's going on with this part of the arc.

My thoughts are now that Orihime's going to get attacked by the female arrancar like she was last time, and that might disrupt the boys' fight. We'll see...

Curse these chapters take so long to come out! ;____;

fff, I also don't think Ulquiorra's going to be able to attack Orihime...I think his feelings run far too deeply for her to do something like that. He might threaten her, but I doubt he could make good on those threats.

Well, I stopped reading Bleach about 150 chapters ago (but all occassionally come back when people go OMG!) so I'm totally not an authority, but at the very least he looks very unhappy at this turn of events.

(And I've never had a problem with my OTPs trying to kill each other.)

Well, I approve on principle: he kidnapped her after all, I think he owes her a few smacks.

Oh god, their tension is just fabulous. I adore it.

I hated Orihime in the beginning of the series. Whine whine whine, pining for Ichigo...she didn't do much more than that. But since she was lured (not even captured, he fucking lured her) to Hueco Mundo by Ulquiorra, ever since she's not only developed a backbone by standing up to him, but she's developed this strange fascination with him as much as he has with her. He's like a moth circling her brightness -- he can't seem to stop thinking about her/fretting over her for seriously more than five minutes -- and she's shining more brightly because of it.

Kind of a lame analogy, but there you have it. :D

Much more exciting lately for me than the IchiRuki connection, which Kubo has really ignored to a large extent in the last 100+ chapters or so. :/

You mean he owes her a few smacks, like the one she gave to him a while ago? XD

I was just talking to my sister about this the other day. Potentially Orihime is one of the most powerful people in Bleach, with her abilities, so it's good to see her get more proactive. The whole reason why she manifested her powers was to protect her friends, very similar to Ichigo. So her coming to Ichigo's defense should be no surprise. I think she's going to fight the girls and either purify them, or turn them back into whole souls.

and lol @ Google, I just love it when it reads my mind.

Date: 2009-01-16 06:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] misora.livejournal.com
Yes, her defense of Ichigo is no big surprise there...but what is a surprise is that she acted at all, as if Ulquiorra motivates her to do so in all situations. (When Ichi fought Grimmjow, that motivation to shield him was nowhere to be found, strangely.)

Last time she just let Loli and Menoli beat the crap out of her...but Ulquiorra wasn't there. This time might have a very different outcome. I can't wait.

And Google loves my OTPs. For realz.

Yeah... like i'd like to know what happened for favorite character... and if the betraying bastard felt anything when he saw her stomach pulled from her body.

I hope he starts closing some of the threads... cause it's getting to be too much drama and a bit annoying trying to follow them all.

HEH. Even the Google are UlquiHime fans. 8D

This pleases me so much. The chapter was awesome. I wouldn't put past Ulquiorra to defect Aizen for Orihime, certainly. 8DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

It is heartbreaking -- I like how Ulquiorra falters when Ichigo mentions his humanity has increased. But, like you, I find Orihime SO much more interesting now that she's opposite Ulquiorra.

And, WOOHOO for lovely and coincidental Google searches!

You know, I actually always like Orihime. She was interesting and eccentric and had hidden depths (she wanted to be a mecha!) Plus, I loved how her boobs where lampshaded.

I always loved watching her interact with Ishida, and it sounds like she has nice chemistry with Ulquiorra, too.

Oh, don't worry about spoil. If I was that worried about spoilers, I wouldn't have skipped ahead (like I did guiltily to find more UlquiHime interaction). ^^;

Poor Ran! ;___; How could he do that to her? I was hoping to hear that Gin had some redeeming qualities after all. You never know with these Bleach guys. .____.

LOL@wanted to be a mecha. Yes, she does have her positive attributes -- she's sweet, and kind, and gentle -- and I agree she had good interactions with Ishida in the Soul Society arc. They were very cute.

It's more her interactions with Ichigo where I dislike her -- she loses her quirkiness and quiet fortitude, and she just becomes this moping, helpless, quivering mass. I feel like Ulquiorra has helped break her out of that "I'm a nuisance to everyone" feeling and has inspired some true, raw strength that she hadn't exhibited before.

lol, well I don't ship Orihime and Ulquirra, mostly because I'm not exactly fond of him. (I think she didn't want to get in between the boylove that is Grimmjow/Ichigo. She totally ships them)

It's interesting that Loli and Menoli are so scared of her, however. They clearly view her as a monster--hilarious coming from a pair of arrancars.

From: [identity profile] misora.livejournal.com
...Actually, I found the UlquiHime connection interesting from the get-go. He observes her during his trip to Karakura with Yammy, and his thought is that she's extremely interesting. Then after she follows him to Aizen's pad, he spends all of his time convincing himself he's got her in this psychological cage that he constructed, noting her inner strength to himself after their encounters and conversely assuring other arrancar that she's weak (to get them to leave her alone?). He frets over her eating and then darts around Hueco Mundo like a spastic monkey, with her on the brain all the while. Hmmm, Ichigo is important to Orihime? I'm gonna go fight 'im! He tests her at every turn, trying to figure out what makes her tick. He's got a real, genuine curiosity (bordering on subliminal romantic obsession) with her.

Of course now that it appears she's inserting herself between him and Ichigo, things are gonna be even more interesting...but my gut feeling tells me Loli and Menoli are going to intercept that scenario (and the shit will fly, because Ulquiorra must know by now that the arrancar girls physically beat the crap out of his precious 'Hime earlier)....

I know, they're like "asgjkal;gs, I don't want to touch her!" Which is indeed hilarious b/c Orihime wouldn't hurt a fly if she could help it, and she saved their (after?)lives after Grimmy had torn them to pieces.

...LOL@Grim/Ichi boylove. hahahaha. Grimmjow's fascination with Ichigo mirrors Ulqui's with Orihime. Something might be goin on there! :D

I think that's why she freaks them out, in their world killing, and not just killing, consuming is the norm. You only heal someone else if you have a use for them, never because they're hurt and need help. Compassion is a human thing that they lose when they lose their hearts...and Orihime scares them because she has powers like theirs, and yet still has a heart.

I think Ichigo's going to get powerup in the middle of the fight, probably right after he gets his ass handed to him when Uliquiorra releases. Either that or his hollow is going to take control.

I knowwwww, I knowwww. It's so sad. Ichigo/Rukia used to be one of my top 3 OTPs. I still love them together (and I still rewatch the SS arc fondly on occasion), but there have been SO many other damn things going on in this manga, it's really fallen by the wayside.

Apparently there's a new Bleach movie coming out in Japan though, and Rukia features prominently? (with Ichigo, of course)

Rukia was the reason I read Bleach, so when she stopped featuring prominently, I stopped reading. And I loved Ichigo/Rukia, and its potential. I'm sad to hear that potential hasn't been used.
