Hmm, good points, but after reading today's manga I just don't think that Ulquiorra has any sort of positive protective feelings for Orihime. I think that he's utterly fascinated by her, fascinated by the emotions she displays, and that he will do anything to her friends to get more of that response from her. In the previous chapter, he specifically acknowledges her before he puts a hole through Ichigo, and now he's pummeling Ishida.
I think that he's fascinated by her heart, and by the fact that her power is not destructive in the least. I think his fascination with her is very morbid, kind of like a serial killer. He wants to pull apart her brain, her heart, find out what makes it work, so he's pushing her responses to the extreme.
