Open note to K_Z mods.

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] katara_zuko, for deleting that link to the fandom hate meme. The last thing the ATLA fandom in general needs is more hate, especially recently.

(Also have never been so glad that [livejournal.com profile] zutarotica is still a locked community.)

Is there a community dedicated to reminding people why they enjoy their fandom? I think the anonymity of those fandom secrets/hate things lends itself to the most ridiculous petty nonsense.

I don't like hate memes. Or any other kind of fandom hatred. Fandom's supposed to be a hobby, something you do for fun.

Also, dang, people say the Zutara comunity is 'crazy' and wanky but I see a LOT more immature behavior from the Maiko crowd...

Doesn't having a hate meme defeat the purpose of belonging to the fandom to begin with?

Meh, I watch the community [livejournal.com profile] simsecret and while there are hate secrets, there is also the love as well. I am grateful, however, that the mods there are no longer posting secrets with hate speech in them (one of the recent weekly posts there had used a derogatory term for transgendered people and it was clear the asshole who posted it was a troll doing it to get people riled up as it was).

It does get petty, especially as some people were at one point going after this one Sim story writer because she was putting slash as a "warning" for her stories (doing it obviously, because there are people who aren't into it) and the people were making a big deal of it and accusing her of "catering to homophobes", which was so not her intent and I was one of her defenders.

Her Simming journal is now on my f-list, and I got a few more friends as well in the whole deal.

I'm glad I missed it.
I'm also glad I'm so busy with fan art for Z-Week and the Zutarotica challenge that I don't even have time to be upset about it. :P
They'll keep trying to snuff us out ....
We'll only burn brighter.
